Anyone who has listened to any genre of music knows of the Beatles. Their popularity across the modern world during the 1960s was shown in every one of their concerts, with hordes of Beatlemaniacs appearing to throw in all their support for their favorite rock band consisting of only four teenage boy members. In one incident that occurred in 1963, fans in Plymouth were so loud and out of control that the police had to resort to using high-pressure water hoses. Their raging influence on the youth that many people did not want to see come to an end resulted in the highly acclaimed and most in demand tribute band, Liverpool: A Tribute to The Beatles.

The most intriguing part of Liverpool is its formation. Consisting of just three original members, Gary Butler, Larry Kips, and Steve Davis, whose friendships were so strongly knit together, Crayons was the club band that they were faithfully a part of. One single Halloween gig in Kansas City drove the members in the band to seek an entirely new path. They dressed up as The Beatles and channeled their music which was met with a roaring crowd that cheered with admiration and excitement. This was the starting point for the three members to create Liverpool, where they would soon bring in a new member, Jimmy Bond, and all of them would spend countless hours and months practicing and perfecting their newly discovered passion.

Not every original band has caused the creation of tribute bands later dedicated to them. The Beatles were so popular and revolutionary during their time that their music is still being enjoyed by millions of fans. A key to their popularity and distinction of their band compared to the rest of the rock bands during that century was mainly due to their uniquely distinct members, all who displayed their individuality and characteristics through their song lyrics, harmonic tunes, and the musical instruments that they played. One of their songs that shines through, characterizing their unique lyric, tune choices, and melodies, includes “A Day in The Life.” The song has its nostalgic charm with very eventful lyrics that describes the world that they were living in during the 1960s. Originally an unfinished piece by John Lennon who was inspired by contemporary newspaper articles during his time, “A Day in The Life” became what it is when Lennon asked Paul McCartney to contribute to the middle of the song, where Paul incorporates a small piece about his younger years. The melded result was a masterpiece where the written sections from both members worked well with one another. Many songs from The Beatles, along with this one, are played by multiple tribute bands including Liverpool: A Tribute to The Beatles. A few tribute bands for The Beatles have come to Geneseo’s campus to perform, including in March 1975, where Liverpool came and performed.
